Born in Paris and born from change.
Jos Berry and her husband John founded Concepts Paris in 1992 in a moment where the world was being forced to re-think how it lived, produced and consumed.
Lingerie and bodywear companies were facing new economic, environmental and social realities. There was a need for more than seasonal trends. Long-term vision of change and an understanding of what that would mean for women and the product they need and desire.
Jos and John’s instinct was not to simply forecast, but to investigate: to observe what was happening in society, question why it was happening and connect the information to what will happen next.
This unique approach quickly found an international audience, with clients including Victoria’s Secret, Vanity Fair and Warners. Concepts Paris developed into an international source of design intelligence for brands, retailers, manufacturers and industry partners across lingerie, bodywear, swimwear, lounge and resort.
More than 30 years later, the original philosophy remains remarkably relevant.
Change in the world continues to advance, AI gives us access to extraordinary amounts of knowledge. Technology opens possibilities that once seemed dreamlike. Global distribution gives consumers almost instant access to product. Social media accelerates ideas, aesthetics and behaviour across borders.
At the same time, women’s lives have become more individual, more fluid and more complex. The old classifications - of age, lifestyle, femininity, occasion and even garment category are increasingly irrelevant.
This complexity is precisely why Q by Concepts Paris was born.
Q is not a reinvention of Concepts Paris. It is the evolution of the original idea.
Where Concepts Paris originally concentrated on the long-term consequences of change, Q combines the long-term view with the short-term intelligence brands now need. We observe what is happening in the here and now, connect it with deeper societal movements, question the relevance and translate it into meaningful creative and commercial direction.
Meaningful innovation rarely starts with a trend. It starts with curiosity.
